Surgical Excellence. Personalised Care.

Meet Dr Abdallah Elsabagh

I’m a general and colorectal Surgeon based in Perth, with a strong focus on patient-centred care and minimally invasive surgery. I use robotic and laparoscopic techniques wherever possible to support faster recovery, lower risks, and better outcomes.

I understand that surgery, no matter how big or small, can be daunting. My goal is to provide every patient with clear information, honest communication, and treatment that’s tailored to your specific needs.

My Training

I completed my medical degree with honors (M.B.B.Ch) and early surgical training at the University of Cairo, then undertook further qualifications through the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS).

After migrating to Australia in 2009 I went on to complete my general surgical training in Western Australia, receiving my Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2019. I subsequently undertook 2 years of subspecialty colorectal fellowship training at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide and Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, both leading centres for robotic colorectal surgery.

Since then, I have performed thousands of complex colorectal and general procedures for my patients using cutting-edge laparoscopic and robotic techniques.

I hold a Masters of Surgical Science and Master of General Surgery from University of Edinburgh where I contributed to several peer-reviewed publications in the field of colorectal and general surgery.

I am a member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), reflecting my commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in colorectal care.

My Surgical Specialties

My Clinical Interests

I’m fortunate to be among only a small number of surgeons in Australia currently using robotic technology in colorectal procedures.

  • Robotic and laparoscopic surgery are advanced, minimally invasive techniques that allow me to operate through small incisions, helping you recover faster, with less pain and scarring.

These methods offer exceptional precision, especially in complex or delicate areas, and allow for a smoother experience overall.

  • Colorectal cancer affects the colon or rectum and is one of the most common cancers in Australia.
Early detection is key, and when caught early, it’s often treatable. If you’ve recently been diagnosed or referred for further investigation, I’ll take the time to explain your options clearly and guide you through the next steps with care and clarity.

  • Advanced endometriosis can affect the bowel, causing pain, digestive symptoms, and significantly impacting quality of life. I work closely with your gynaecologist to provide surgical care when the disease involves the bowel wall. My goal is to treat the condition with precision and care, always taking the time to explain your options and support you throughout your treatment.

  • Anal and perianal conditions, such as haemorrhoids, fissures and fistulas, are common but often uncomfortable to talk about.

I take a respectful, judgment-free approach to help you feel at ease, explain what’s going on, and guide you toward the right treatment with care and discretion.
